TANGLING & MATTING
When washing your Dream Hair Collection remember to always be gentle with your washing process. Heavy scrubbing with deep cleansing shampoos can cause your hair to mat. If your hair is tangling it normally means it dry or it has heavy product build up. If all your hair is expericing dryness then try another conditioner that works better at moisturizing your hair. All hair products are not created equal for all Dream Hair Collection . Each bundle of Dream Hair Collection comes from a different donor. Each bundle you purchase may respond differently to the products that your using. If your having these problems your best option is to deep condition your hair with a rich conditioner. Allow the conditioner to sit on the hair for 30 to 45 minutes to get your best results.
Use oil sheen and/or heavy oils (they weigh the hair down)
Blow dry (always allow your hair to air dry)
Use sulfate shampoos (see recommended shampoos)
Sew through the welfts (it can cause the hair to shed (professional installations highly recommended)
Try at-home coloring techniques (seek a professional)
The most important thing to remember about Dream Hair Collection is to treat it as you would your real hair! When washing and conditioning your Dream Hair Collection hair always use a deep cleansing shampoo (we highly recommend: Paul Mitchell clarifying shampoo, Garnier Fructis, Design Essentials,Suave Professionals, and Pantene Pro V). For conditioning we PREFER you use Divah Dream Hair Collection. DHC is a moisturizer, conditioner, and treatment all in one with out a heavy build up. Other conditioners recommended: Paul Mitchell Detangler conditioner (for extra dry or tangled hair), Suave Professionals Sleek mosturizing conditioner, Garnier Fructis, Design Essentials conditioners, and Pantene Pro V.
Your Brazilian hair extensions can last up to 2 months but generally people are encouraged to re-apply hair extensions every six weeks or at least get them tightened and treated should you wish to keep them in longer.
We recommend alcohol free styling products if possible. As a general rule, we recommend you use products that you would use on your own hair, as the hair is 100% natural and needs the same amount of care and attention. We recommend thoroughly brushing or combing hair before going to bed and the same in the morning.
We advise you to sleep with your hair tied in a loose plait, this will minimize the chance of knots and tangles. We recommend washing your hair in downward movements using your fingertips to wash your scalp. The same applies when rinsing the hair, this is to ensure that all shampoo and conditioner is removed.
If you follow the simple instructions above we can guarantee that weft hair extensions can last up to 2 years, something we pride ourselves on.
Your new hairstyle should be brushed daily. Use a wide toothed comb or a special hair extension brush. Never use a ball tip or hard plastic bristle brush on your extensions, these brushes can pull and stretch your extensions. Always comb from the ends to the roots and hold your extensions at the seal to prevent pulling. We recommend the use of a conditioning spray; which will help remove any tangles and keep the hair looking healthy.
Avoid wetting or washing your extensions for 2-3 days after initial application (this allows the bonding method to set). We recommend you use a clarifying shampoo which will help remove bonding deposits, styling products and oil left on the natural hair. Many high street shampoos contain silicon that will break down bonds. A rinse-out reconstructive conditioner should be used; this works inside the structure of the hair shaft and should be applied once or twice a week. As hair extensions are not attached to the scalp they do not get the same vitamins and nutrients that your own hair gets and can become dry if a reconstructor is not used.
To best maintain the curl in your Brazilian human hair extensions allow your hair to air dry. When using a blow dryer it is best to use the cool setting. Use the cold setting on the dryer to set a blow dry style. Avoid pulling your extensions with the brush when they are warm.
You can style your hair as normal (straightened, curled, cut and blow dried) but take care to protect the ends of your extensions (and your own hair). Avoid using heated styling tools with a metal surface near the bonds as they may melt the bond and could cause it to fall out. Human hair extensions can be coloured. Your 'T' section can be coloured whilst having hair extensions and so can the hairline and parting, but the colour should not be put on the bond itself. You may use any of your normal styling products with your extensions (hair sprays, mousse, and gels) but try to keep them away from the bond of the extension.
We advise you to sleep with your hair tied in a loose plait; this will minimize the chance of knots and tangles.
We advise you to go for a maintenance visit every 4 weeks in order to keep your extension style; this will include the removal and replacement of matted or damaged bonds. You should have the pre-bonds removed after 3 months to avoid any damage to your own hair.
